Frierenfag! I want to fon Internet has never had any charm. The only thing that's gone is easy access to free, anonymous communication on the large scale. The software and means to facilitate that still exist, but amount of people interested in that is exceedingly small, and those who are interested are mainly computer freaks aka programmers, neets etc. There used to be more diversity. Social media arguably consumed internet.

>>7326 yeah as the hikarin above me said altchans usually lead to more altchans. altchans are kinda my go-to since they have a homey feeling i can't really describe. they really do feel like an oasis away from the modern internet, even if they aren't heavily trafficked or have lesser post quality. i also have a good time browsing neocities and other personal sites. i enjoy reading random blogs people make on their personal sites that aren't really expected to be read. i get to see a glimpse of someone's story and personality without having a face or even a name behind it. like reaching into the void and plucking out a random person's thoughts and memories. i don't do this on sites like Twitter where most people are bland NPC's, but if someone cares enough to make a sovlful looking site and post on it i'll browse. sometimes when i am sad i read through old forums just to see what people talked about when i was still in elementary school. i don't really know how to describe why i do all of this. it's kinda like internet-based travel or archeology to me.
